Will Geraniums Left In Ground Bloom The Following Year

Question From: R. Passero - Columbus, Ohio, United States
Q: Planted zonal geraniums last summer at the cemetery. Normally I would dig up and plant mum's in the Fall. Was unable to do this. When I went Memorial weekend to plant new flowers I was shocked to see 10 in high foliage with no buds or blooms. I live in Ohio and know they had to have frozen over the winter. Will these plants eventually bloom or should I just pull up?

A: They should bloom. I would fertilize them with an bloom formula fertilizer, such as Jack's Classic. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
