Carolina Hemlock (T. caroliniana)
This tree is similar to Canadian Hemlock in most ways. Carolina Hemlock needles point in all directions, giving the tree a spruce-like appearance. This tree is able to handle city conditions better than does the Canadian Hemlock. It is a very desirable tree for ornamental planting. Its annual growth rate is 12 to 18 inches.
