Electric Blower/Vacs

Over the years I've tested lots of blower/vacs, and this one wins top honors for new technology and good design.

New BlowerVac

The blower and vacuum tubes are fused together, allowing me to change modes with a simple flick of a switch. There's nothing to take apart and there are no tubes or parts to remove, re-attach or get lost in the garage.
When I'm vacuuming and come upon leaves stuck in tight places, I simply flick the switch, blow them out, flick the switch back to vacuum and suck them up.
TriVac weighs in at just 8.3 pounds. When vacuuming, the leaves are shredded and reduced to a 10-to-1 ratio.
I vacuum leaves off my garden beds and when the bag is full I empty the-ready-to use leaf mulch back on the beds. Excess leaves are stored for use next summer.
The actors in the infomercial also use the Worx TriVac to pick up picnic trash and marshmallows. The tool was designed to vacuum and blow leaves and that's what I use it for.
As far as seedpods and pinecones are concerned, the ability of the machine to handle them depends on their size and the amount.

Long seedpods and large pinecones may jam the impeller. However, I've picked up small twigs and a few small pine cones that were mixed among big piles of leaves with no problems.
When the slimy stem of a large hosta leaf jammed the unit, I quickly turned the machine off and unplugged it before pushing the button on the top of the unit that released the hinged housing exposing the impeller. I then removed the catch bag and quickly cleaned out the mess.
Bottom line, I think this machine rocks.
The Worx TriVac, priced at $89.85, is available online at www.worxoutdoortools.com.

Toro’s Ultra Blower/Vac

Growing the lushest lawn on the block is only half the battle. For a true “estate quality” look, it needs to be manicured to perfection. Luckily for homeowners, Toro has developed the new electric Ultra Blower/Vac making final cleanup work quick and painless.

Toro’s Ultra Blower/Vac is at the top of its class. You can't buy a more powerful handheld blower, gas or electric. With a maximum 225-mph jet stream of air at your fingertips, debris such as sticks, wet leaves and clumps of dirt are removed quickly. And the Ultra Blower/Vac can even handle the rocks or gravel which creep onto pavement and walkways – one swoop of the Ultra Blower/Vac will have it gone in seconds.

The new infinitely variable speed control offers ultimate flexibility in both blower and vacuum modes. You control the air speed anywhere between 90 and 225 miles per

Toro’s Super Blower/Vac

Demanding yard work can be a hassle. The last thing you want to do is spend an entire weekend raking. Time is tight and chances are, you've got a lot of other things on your to-do list. Well, the Toro Company has come to your rescue.

Toro has just the tool to help you make quick work out of your backyard chores. The company's redesigned Super Blower/Vac will not only give you the power you need, but it will make the toughest yard chores seem like a breeze.

The Super Blower/Vac combines three machines in one. It's a powerful blower, high-speed vacuum and leaf shredder. With a maximum 215-mph jet stream of air, debris such as damp leaves, dirt and sticks are gone in seconds. The new two-speed air control gives you more flexibility. Use the lower setting for light chores such as sweeping your garage floor or turn up the power to make heavy-duty lawn cleaning a snap.

Better vacuum performance means that you get the job done faster. The Toro Super Blower/Vac collects more bushels of leaves per minute than the previous models. A large capacity bagging attachment means fewer trips to the compost pile.

The unit’s ergonomic design makes the Super Blower/Vac easier to use. This new blower has the power, but not the weight associated with heavy-duty blowers. It weighs in at a mere 7-pounds. The lighter weight means it’s easier to use and less fatiguing for your arms and hands. It’s also more convenient to convert from blower to vacuum. An easy release latch makes the transition quick and painless. And you can say goodbye to the hassle of a cord that accidentally unplugs. Toro engineers have designed an exclusive extension cord lock that will hold your cord firmly in place.

The new Super Blower/Vac can be purchased at most retailers for around $60.00 and it comes equipped with a 2-year full warranty. If anything goes wrong on your Super Blower/Vac in the first 2 years, Toro has it covered.
