Planting Bailey Acacia

The Right Place

Outdoors, most acacias cannot stand temperatures lower than 18 to 20 deg. F, which limits them to Zones 8, 9 and 10. They're sun-loving and drought-resistant, and most are evergreen.
Acacias do best in light, well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0 to 6.5. Alkaline soil (above pH 7.0) may cause plants to appear chloric--foliage turns yellow due to lack of chlorophyll. The plants need full sun, but will tolerate light shade. Plant container stock in the spring.
