1 To 2 Inch Dirt Mounds Spread Over Yard

Question From: l. springer - CALIFORNIA
Q: I have many 1 to 2 inch mounds of pushed up dirt about a foot apart all over my backyard. There are no holes or bugs in them when I dig into them. Some of the mounds seem to be made up of little pea shapes of dirt. I even had the lawn taken out and new sod put in and they came back!! Please help

Because I don't live in California - I'm from Michigan, I can't say for sure, but I think it may be mole crickets. Take some photos of the damage to your local independent garden center for confirmation and be sure to buy a product listed for mole crickets if you get a confirmation. Not every pesticide will work. It must be watered in to a depth of 30 inches. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
