Question From: ILLINOIS
Q: Hello. I planted ajuga plants last summer. I cut off flowers after they bloomed and now the middle of all my Ajugas are yellowing. They grew quite a bit this spring but now are yellowing in just the middle of each plant. Was not sure if I needed to do anything. Thank you for your time.
A: Unfortunately it sounds like your ajuga has a fungal disease known as crown rot. Take close up photos and a plant sample sealed in a plastic bag to a good garden center for an accurate ID. There is no cure and the plants should be dug out and thrown in the trash. Google crown rot on ajuga for more information. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
