All Poppies Have Died In Yard

Question From: Surrey, British Columbia, Canada
Q: When I moved into my home five years ago there were beautiful and prolific oriental poppies. I purchased Princess Victoria Louise last year and this spring I purchased another species (I would have to go look name up). Every single poppy in my yard has died this year (not normal dormant period, but actual death). What could have happened?

Sounds like a fungal disease. If you lived in the U.S. I would suggest drenching the soil and spraying any new plants with a product called Actinovate, which is OMRI listed. Do replant in another section of the garden. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
