Question From: Commack, New York, United States
Q: Hi Nancy..I have many andromeda bushes and most are full of white blooms right now but there are some that have dead looking brown old blooms and are not producing any new blooms. Are these bushes diseased and what should I do? Thanks so much
A: Susan, Your shrubs are probably suffering from winter damage cause by bitter cold, winds and quick drop in temperatures last fall. Make sure to keep them well watered. I would also fertilize them lightly with Espoma Holly Tone. Do not apply any chemical fertlizers as that will stress them further. I would also mulch around the plants with a good quality organic mulch. None of that painter stuff. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
