Question From: B. Fedorochko - NEW JERSEY
Q: I have an Andromeda bush for years but this year something has infected it. Please see attached photos and let me know if you have any idea what the problem is. Leaves are limp and dry and have little dots or discoloration. I don't want to lose my beautiful Andromeda! I have two more in different parts of my yard that don't seem to have any problems...at least so far. I'm hoping whatever it is doesn't affect the other two plants. What can I use to cure it?
A:
Your andromeda has been attacked by lace bugs. Washing them off with a heavy spray of water is a good start. Target the undersides of the leaves. Repeat every couple of days till no more dots appear. That's the bug poop. If you choose to use an insecticide neem oil would be a good choice. For more information go to Yardener.com and enter problems with andromeda in the search box.
