Ants On Daphne Bush

Question From: Mooresville, North Carolina, United States
Q: Ants lots of on my daphne bush. What can I use to not kill the plant? Insect spray?

A: The ants won't hurt your Daphne, as the Yardener explained. They are feeding on the honeydew given off by aphids. A stiff stream of water hiting the leaves, especially the undersides every couple of days will knock the aphids. If you must use a pesticide, a neem based product will do the job. But don't use it during a heat wave as that may damage the plant. Read and follow the package directions. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
