Arbortivae Trees Were Burned From Fire

Question From: Yakima, Washington, United States
Q: My arbovitaes were burned some from a neighbors fire. There are quite a few brown leaves on that side. On the other side they are nice and green. These trees are a 10 to12 feet high and are about 7 years old. Will these survive and what should I do to help them? The fire was 4 or 5 weeks ago.

The best thing you can do for them is be sure they are kept well watered. I would spend the money to have a certified arborist take a look at them. If they are going to die or be forever scarred you may be better off having them removed and put in an insurance claim. Take a look at your policy before you take extreme action. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
