Q: Some of my Arborvitae are "girdling" - they are healthy top and bottom but the middle has not grown as wide and is brownish.
A: Sounds like a fungal disease. There are several that attack arbs. Take photos and samples of the girdled area to a good independent garden center or nursery for a specific ID and control. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
