Arborvitae Are Quickly Getting Stripped Down To Twigs From Bottom Up

Question From: D. LIGHT - Michigan, United States
Q: My 7 ft tall arborvitaes are being stripped down to twigs , from the ground upwards, and its happening quickly , what can I do ? Thank you...DL

Sounds like you have a deer problem. I use a product called Plantskydd. It is a blood based spray. It does the job and will last through spring, Spray again in March and every 4 to 6 weeks through out the summer. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy

Comment: Thank you for the response...but my yard is completely fenced in , so I don't think its deer or rabbits... damage is too high up (54 inches ) and climbing, would a couple photo's help ? Thank you again ...DL

How high is your fence? To be deer proof it needs to at least 8 feet. When the snow comes, look for foot prints. Standing on their hind legs deer can feed to 7 feet in height. Best Nancy
