Arborvitae Are Showing Some Browning

Question From: Neenah, Wisconsin, United States
Q: Newly planted trees (about 2 months) are showing some browning. We have underground watering and they get watered 3 times weekly. Concern: what are we doing wrong to cause some small amount of browning.

Do you have any idea how much water the system puts out? If it was set up to water turf your trees may not be getting enough water. Water should be directed to the root ball , which dries out more quickly then the surrounding soil. I'd figure 2 gallons three times a week through the summer. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
