Question From: P. Rose - New Jersey, United States
Q: I had 8 six feet tall arborvitae planted around my patio for a privacy screening about 3 weeks ago. They seemed to be doing well but over the past few days I have been seeing many of the branches turning brown and I am concerned that they may be dying. I check the soil around the base of the trees and only water if it seems dry and then not heavily. Is there anything I can do? Could they just be experiencing transplant or planting shock? I have always been successful with arborvitae before and have never experienced this problem.
A: The soil in the root balls should be kept moderately moist at all times. I would suggest you water them. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
