Arborvitae Have Spider Webs And Brown Spots On Leaves

Question From: Lake Villa, Illinois, United States
Q: Brown spots on newly planted arborvitaes. How do we take care of it. Appears there are some spider webs as well.

You may have several issues. Spider mites are a common problem ,especially in hot dry weather. Hosing the shrubs down with a stiff stream of water usually will take cane of the issue. Repeat this every three days of so for a couple of weeks. The brown spots may be a disease. Take photos and samples to an independent garden center or nursery that sells these plants for an accurate ID and control. Be sure to keep them well watered, especially in the hot dry weather. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
