Question From: Northville, Michigan, United States
Q: I have an aborvitae that is heavily seeding and weighing branches down. It looks awful. None of the others are seeding. Why is this one seeding and is it a sign of a problem?
A: Evergreens produce lots of seed when they are in stress. They think they are about to kick off do not want the specie to die out. The trick is to figure out what the problem is. Probably started out with lack of water two summers ago, Two fierce winters added insult to injury. Keep it well watered into the winter season, mulch around the base with a good organic mulch and fertilize it with Holly Tone after it has gone dormant.Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
