Are Impatiens Safe To Plant In A New Area Now

Question From: B. Rogers - MICHIGAN
Q: Hi Nancy I want to know if impatiens are safe to plant in a spot where they haven't been planted before. I remember several years back when they contaminated the soil they were growing in but I would like to plant some in a new area. Is this still a problem with impatiens or are they safe to plant again. Thank you!!

Bobbie, It's a crap shoot. Many garden centers no longer carry them. There are no guarantees. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
