Are Sprouts At Bottom Of Blue Spruce Trunk Separate Trees

Question From: Livonia, Michigan, United States
Q: Our blue spruce has small trees sprouting up 2' to 4' from the trunk. Are these separate and viable trees or just shoots growing out of the roots that we should remove?

The are just shoots. Remove them if you like. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
