Basham Pink Crepe Myrtle Leaves Are Dead And Crunchy

Question From: S. Whitmire - Groves, Texas, United States
Q: Hi, I just bought a Basham party pink crepe myrtle and now,2 weeks later, the leaves are dead and crunchy. The limbs themselves are still green under the bark all the way out to tip of each. There is also no new growth near the base. Will transplanting this to the ground bring it back to health?

Sounds like lack of water. The soil in container plants must be kept moist for the plants to live. When their leaves dry out and fall they are usually toast. You might try planting it in the ground. If so keep it well watered .. Do not fertilize it until it begins to show green in spring. Best Nancy and Thanks for visiting Yardener.com.
