Beets Have Thick Rubbery Leave With Dark Red Veins And Are Not Growing

Question From: A. FOSTER - Hermiston, Oregon, United States
Q: I have been growing my beets in a container 8 inches deep,(I have two containers growing one is fine) I planted them the last of day of April, they came up fine. To keep the leaf miners off I covered them with a thin insect cloth after they were about 3 inches tall. The leaves are now very thick and rubbery with dark red vaines, The beest are not growing. I am going to pull them up was wondering if anyone knew what was wrong with them.

Could be lack of water, over crowding, lack of nutrients, lack of sun. Google how to grow beets in containers for more information. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
