Question From: D. colapinto - Naugatuck, Connecticut, United States
Q: I recently purchased some begonias but the leaves and the flowers are turning black at the edges. What may cause this and how can I fix this?
A: Sounds like a fungal disease. Too much water and too much fertilizer plus hot weather with high humidity will do it. Water when the top inch of soil is wet. Do not fertilize with a high nitrogen fertilizer, especially in a heat wave and protect plants from hot afternoon sun. Remove infected leaves and flowers. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
