Begonia Leaves Have Spots And Are Drying At Edges And Falling Off

Question From: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Q: I think I have a Begonia Pink Minx - it's been really healthy for years. I re-potted it this summer & it was growing madly. But, in the last month some leaves have started to dry around the edges, there are spots on them & they are falling off. What can I do to save the plant?

My guess would be lack of humidity. Placing a pebble tray filled with water under the container should help. The tray should be a few inches wider than the plant canopy and level of water should be just below the surface of the pebbles so the plant's pot does not stand in water. Google how to set up a pebble tray to find videos that demonstrate this. Water it sparingly in winter and don't fertilize until mid March. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
