Bittersweet Plant Produces No Berries

Question From: G. Gissel - NEBRASKA
Q: I planted 3 roots from my moms bittersweet plant this spring. They all grew beautifully up my trellis, but produced no berries. Does it take a few years for a new plant to produce?

Your vine is a female and it needs a male to pollinate it. Check with an independent garden center or nursery. Or go back to your Mom's and see if you can find the one that's pollinting hers. Google how to identify a male bittersweet vine. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
