Black Eyed Susans Do Not Flower

Question From: D. Thompson - Wadesville, Indiana, United States
Q: Bought five BSE this spring and none flowered. What may be happening?

A: Dave, The most common reasons BESs do not flower is lack of sun and/or to much fertilizer. 'Goldstrum' flowers like crazy and re-seeds in my patch. I never water or feed it lest it eat me alive. If they were small plants they may need time to mature. Most perennials bloom in the second season. Best Nancy and thanks for checking out Yardener.com.
