Bleeding Heart Plant Has Tiny Leaf Cluster And No Flowers This Year

Question From: C. Bertram - NEW YORK
Q: My bleeding heart plant has thrived over the past 10 or so years. This spring, it only had a tiny leaf cluster come up and no flowers. I've done nothing new that I am aware of. Any thoughts? Thank you :) I am not in New York, I am in Bancroft, Ontario, Canada. This site would not accept my zip code.

A: These plants do not live forever. They should be divided every three to four years to re--energize them. A combination excessive heat and drought may have done them in. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
