Boxweed Hedges Turning Yellow At Bottom

Question From: S. Willer - Gig Harbor, Washington, United States
Q: I have boxwood hedges which are turning yellow just at the bottom of the plant and then die and drop their leaf. This problem appears to only effect the bottom of the boxwood thus far. It is happening to all 45 plants. The boxwoods are 6 years old.

Too much fertilizer, especially chemicals like miracle gro can cause burning of these shallow roots. Lack of water may also be the problem. They have shallow roots, so mulching will help. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
