Boxwood Turning Brown

Question From: Shickshinny, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: My boxwood was bought in the spring of 2013.It is a big potted planter. I had it in the back yard where it flourished.I never pruned it. Before the first frost I put it on the covered front porch. Its been a cold winter and windy but it was fine. I had the pot wrapped with burlap.Problem was i watered it a couple times because the soil looked really dry. The last 2 weeks its been turning yellowish brown on the ends. Did i kill it because it is still cold out?

A: Jen, Be patient and give the plant some time. Browned out branches can be pruned back and the boxwood will come back. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
