Butterfly Magnolia Tree Has Bent Over About Halfway Up

Question From: IOWA
Q: I have a butterfly magnolia tree that I planted 4-5 years ago and is approximately 12-15 feet tall. It looks healthy and bloomed this Spring but yesterday I noticed that probably half way up the tree it has bent over. It isn't broken. I gently straightened the tree and then let go and it slowly drooped over again. I'm not sure what is causing this could you please help? Thanks!

I can't answer that question. My guess would be that a heavy load of ice or snow bent the tree. They usually right themselves if this is the case. I suggest you a take photos to an independent garden center or nursery that sells these trees or B. Get an onsite inspection from a professional - a certified arborist. To find one in your area go to www.tcia.org and enter your zip code. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
