Can A Fig Tree Grow In Michigan

Question From: Biloxi, Mississippi, United States
Q: Would we be able to grow a fig tree in Galord Michigan, our home. If possible what kind?

If you drag it into an attached garage for the winter you may be able grow it. But bitter cold winters such as we had in the past two years will make it iffy. Some folks rig special housing for them and use light bulbs for heat. Noodle around on the web and see what you can find. Also contact George Papadelis at Telly's Nursery in Troy. He has lots of Greek customers who grow figs. Good Luck. Nancy
