Can A Gardenia Left Outside For Winter Be Saved

Question From: K. Heller - Raleigh, North Carolina, United States
Q: Nancy, I had a beautiful gardenia plant but it was left outside all winter, here in North Carolina. Is there any hope of the plant surviving? Should I cut it back and see if it grows again or just purchase another one? I great appreciate your opinion.

A: Karen, If it were mine I would buy another one. Even if it lived it would never rise to the lovely plant you started out with. Thank it for its time shared with you and add it to the compost pile. Gardenias were my Mom's favorite flowers. Enjoy your new one. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy

Comment: Thank you for the advice. I will do much better with the new one. I believe it is my favorite plant also. Thank you for your service! Karen
