Can Organic Yellow Apples With Blackish Spots Be Eaten

Question From: Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: organic yellow apples have blackish spots, does this hurt the fruit if I peal off the skin?

It's probably sooty patch or flyspeck. Scrub the apples using dish soap and rinse well and you can even eat the peels. But by all means the flesh is fine to eat. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
