Can Problem Trees Be Identified From Roots In Sewer Pipes

Question From: C. Kramer - Eastpointe, Michigan, United States
Q: Twice in the last 45 days I've had to have our sewer line snaked for roots. Is there anywhere I can send in a sample to determine which tree is causing the problem? Thank-you.

That is a question for a certified arborist. Willows are notorious for breaking into sewer lines as are poplars, American elms and silver maples. There are chemicals you can put in your drain monthly to keep roots from growing in the pipes. To find an arborist in your area go to www.tcia.org and enter your zip code.
