Can Provide Water Instead Of Chemicals To Keep Critters From Eating Produce In Times Of Drought

Question From: A. Mulcare - Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States
Q: This is not a question but a suggestion to your column in the Detroit News on critters eating your produce in search of water. Instead of chemicals to keep them away, just put out shallow containers of fresh water. The squirrels and other animals (and birds) will love you and leave your produce. I been doing this for years and learn it from my father who kept the pheasants out of his garden this way. Simple and easy.

That would be the common sense thing to do, but don't want to encourage these animals to hang out in their yards - period. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
