Can Tomatoes With Flowers And Fruit Be Safely Transplanted

Question From: S. Vinson - Grosse Pointe, Michigan, United States
Q: Can I safely re pot tomatoes that have flowers & fruit...my containers are too small

Shawn, that's a crap shoot. Pick a cool overcast day or do it in the morning. Water the tomato well the night before. I would also give it my rescue remedy potion. One quarter tsp. SuperThrive and 1 oz. liquid kelp to a gallon of water. Moisten the potting soil at a rate of 3 parts soil to 1 part water the day before. I'd use 1 part Organimax compost to 3 parts potting soil. I'd use fertilizer free potting soil. You could also mist the tomato plant with the rescue remedy. Water well after potting up and shade the plant in the heat of the day it it's how for a few days. Keep it watered. The quality of the larger fruit may not be the best. Let me know how you did. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
