Question From: Brentwood, California, United States
Q: I have a screen of cherry laurels. They are being attacked by some sort of borer. The evidence is: little holes from which amber to brown-colored sap runs out. The shrubs are being destroyed. They are 5 years old but are deteriorating. What can I do to stop the infestation and resulting damage?
A: Your best bet is to have a certified arborist treat them. They have the tools and pesticides to treat them, products not available to homeowners. Once pests or diseases become established in trees home remedies rarely work. To find a professional in your area go to www.tcia.org. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
