Chestnuts Have No Body

Question From: Upton, , United Kingdom
Q: Hi Nancy my name is Ian I live in West Yorkshire and I have a very large chestnut tree it looks in very good condition and as loads of blossom and nut cases with about three nuts in each but the nuts have no body to them just flat nothing in side them. Please can you help. Regards Ian

Lack of pollination is the likely cause. England, like the U.S. has had a big decline in honey bees, that I believe are the pollinators. Could also be weather related. You might try starting your own bee colony. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
