Chinese Chestnut Trees Bloomed But Have Dry Leaves And No Nuts

Question From: Irwin, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: I have 6 chinese chestnut trees that had a poor harvest last year ( 2016 ). This year the trees were loaded with flowers ( pipe cleaners ).However now in the middle of august I don't see any nuts forming and there is a lot of dead dried leaves at the end of the branches. The rest of the leaves are healthy. The trees don't look like they are going to die. Other trees miles away have the same problem. I hope you can help me.

Lack of water would be my guess or a late season frost. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
