Clearance Required For Planting Winter King Hawthorne Trees

Question From: P. Leahy - OREGON
Q: I am buying two 7ft Winter King Hawthorne trees. I would like to plant them in my front yard which is small. Can you suggest how close together I can plant them and also how far away from driveway? I live in Eastern Oregon. Thank you!

A:

This tree will grow to 25 to 30 feet in height and 20 to 25 feet in width. I would not plant closer than 15 feet to a driveway. It has short soft thorns, so that may be an issue. The roots of this tree are not a problem. I would think twice about planting 2 on a lawn. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
