Question From: East Greenwich, Rhode Island, United States
Q: hi Nancy, I have a new lawn doing quit well thanks to your advice. Only problems are clover developing and a lot of mushrooms coming up. Any answers?
A: Larry, I never worried too much about clover as it stays nice and green and it gives the rabbits something to munch on. That said, if you want to get rid of it use a broad leaf weed killer.Weed and feed is not very effective. I prefer to wait for fall to do this in early September as you will be thinning the lawn and in the heat of summer the grass doesn't fill in quickly leaving bare patches for more weeds to sprout. Mowing the lawn will take care of the mushrooms. It's been very wet this spring. When and if it dries out the mushrooms will depart. PS Fairy gardens are in and so are mushrooms. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
