Clump Heritage Birch Tree Is Losing More Limbs Than Usual

Question From: C. Courtney - Madison, Indiana, United States
Q: Why is my 15 year old clump heritage birch tree losing more limbs than usual ? Planted in Midwest area. Leaves were normal last year.

A: My guess is it's weather related, as in winds, snow and ice. Birch have considered by some to be trash trees as they shed when hit by storms. The older they get, the more flimsy limbs they produce, the more they shed. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
