Q: Can I trim cone flowers before they bloom - they get so tall and fall over
Jackie, You can cut them back when the stems reach 2 1/2 feet tall, however that will delay the bloom-time. Cone flowers lodge ( the pros name for flopping) when they receive too much nitrogen or are planted in overly rich soil. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
