Question From: C. Bogan - WISCONSIN
Q: I want to remove sod from my lawn to create a landscape garden. My thought was to cut the sod with a sod cutter, and then take and turn the sod upside down. Between each layer I would lay brown paper down to help kill the grass. I want to create a brim with this process. What more should I do?
A: Clate, you don't have to use cardboard on every level but the last. It's the edges were the grass will sneak out. If this becomes an issue spray the areas with a glyphosate product. It kills plants it touches so be very careful with it. I use it with a paint brush so it doesn't saturate the soil. To find techniques you should use to build and stabilize a berm Google "how to build a berm landscape". You will find lots of good videos. Good Luck, Nancy
