Crepe Myrtle Has Green Grey Moss On Trunk And Limbs And No Leaves Or Blooms This Year

Question From: Boiling Springs, South Carolina, United States
Q: Crepe Myrtle. I have had my tee to 5 years. It has always had leaves and bloomed. This year no leaves or blooms. I has green/gray moss spots on the trunk and limbs. What might this be, and how can I treat it?

The gray green moss is lichen. They are harmless. If your tree has no leaves by now it's toast. Sorry for your loss. Nancy
