Crepe Myrtle Has Spider Webs And Branch Tips Are Brown And Curled

Question From: VIRGINIA
Q: a customers crape myrtle has what looks like fine spider webs all over branches. the foilage for the most part looks fine. the exception would be that the branch tips are brown curled and have died back. no signs of aphids or scale, the webbing doesnt look like typical worms and no worms are present. tree is in full sun next to a wood fence that only minimally blocks wind???

Mike, I recommend you have a on-site inspection of a certified arborist. Heat and drought last year has take its toll on trees. Stressed trees are vulnerable to all sorts of problems, problems the untrained eye cannot see. Do your customer a favor and get the advice of a professional. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
