Crepe Myrtle Leaves Are Folding And Turning Dark Red On One Side Of Tree

Question From: Los Gatos, California, United States
Q: On the right hand side of my crepe myrtle the leaves are folding and turning a dark reddish color. This has never happened since I planted them a few years ago. There 4 in a row. What would cause this to happen? Some of the other trees are beginning to do this, too.

A: Aphids often cause leaf curling and coloring of leaves may be caused by disease. I recommend you get an onsite inspection from a certified arborist. To find one in your area go to www.tcia.org and enter your zip code. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
