Crepe Myrtle Tree Black Around Base

Question From: K. Hill - TEXAS
Q: This morning I noticed that my favorite CrepeMyrtle tree is black around it's base. This beautifully shaped tree is over 20 years old. What caused this condition and can we save this tree?

Kathy, You need to get an onsite inspection from a certified arborist. They are trained tree doctors. I do not diagnose trees as a mistaken diagnosis could cost you the tree. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
