Cucumber Flowers Do Not Open And Leaves Are Yellow

Question From: B. JOHNSON - Silver Spring, Maryland, United States
Q: the flower does not open and it turns white. The leaves are pale and look yellow.

Excessive heat and lack of water will keep them from producing. Plants go dormant in high heat to conserve energy and moisture. Leaves may suffer sunburn and turn yellow. Shading plants from the hot afternoon sun and keeping the soil moist should help. I would not fertilize when the temps rise above 85 degrees. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
