Cucumber Leaves Are Wilting And Drying Up

Question From: J. Desnoyers - Falmouth, Massachusetts, United States
Q: I started to notice on my very healthy, prolific cucumber plants that many of the leaves had wilted and turned brown/brittle. The fruit production began to wane. I don't see any beetles anywhere or eggs on the underside of the plants. I dug around a bit in the soil and didn't find anything there either. Any ideas?
