Cut Flowers With Watergel In Vase Died After Two Days

Question From: Karancsalja, Nógrád County, Hungary
Q: we purchased cut flowers from bethlehem flowers. We left the watergel in the crystal vase and added water and the flowers. The vase had to be refilled with water several times. The flowers started dying after two days . by 7 days almost all of the flowers were dead. the florist blamed us for not taking out the watergel as she said that flower could not suck up water when gel was in vase. Comments

The directions recommend cutting the end of the stems on an angle and adding at least one inch of water to the vase. If the stem ends were cut flat across the beads may blocked them and prevented uptake. Water should be changed and the beads rinsed every two days.
